The neo-gothic town hall of Sint-Niklaas was built in 1876-1878, according to plans of architect Pieter Van Kerckhove.
The facade is a mixture of elements found in other well-known Belgian buildings. The guerite towers look a lot like those of the town hall of Bruges, the stairs resemble those of the town hall of Damme. In its whole concept with the 40 meter high belfry tower it looks like a simplified version of the gothic town halls of Brussels or Oudenaarde.
Take notice of the remarkable spire.
