When in 1891, the old theatre was too small, a decision was taken to build a new theatre. The was a concours, which was won by Ch. Thirion.

The interiour was decorated in Lodewijk XIV, and is 152 square metres. According to the local people of Verviers, the theatre can be compared to the Monnai theatre in Brussels.
