J.J.Naert has drawn the plans for this gentleman's house.

After Christian Smets (translated by us): 'In this area, where I live, this building is also called 'hôtel Empain' after a famous banking family. Large parts if the interior are Art Nouveau and are classified. A renovation is required, but sadly, nothing happens... '

Christian Smets (translated by us): 'The family de Knuyt de Vosmaer comes from Eastern Flanders, but a certain Henriette-Marie de Knuyt de Vosmaer was born in Brussels April 14th 1860. The architect NAERT has drawn the plans for this building in 1878-1879, but Henriette-Marie birth prooves the family was in Brusels before that. The gable carries the arms of the family de Knuyt de Vosmaer. This building is a rare example for Flemish new-renaissance.'
