The town Ghent had written out a competition in 1992 to replace the old neglected buildings by a project of new building for social appartments. The winner was W.J. Neutelings.

These modern social flats are a nice original and colorful lot. In order to protect the inhabitants privacy a wall with long, naarow vertical openings, was erected on the streetside of the first floor.

It is remarkable what variation brings to the look of the building.It is an alternation of rectangular forms, 'piled up' ervery time in a different way.

The great lown within the appartmentbloc is very nice and an oase in the town.
