The construction of the royal Museum for Middle-Africa (in the past 'Kongomuseum') was ordered by Leopold II and built around 1901-1910 according the plans of Charles Girault.
There is a rotunda at the back and a dome-shaped roof, and at the side there are corner ressaults . Tuscan inbedded columns cut the facade rythmically. Above the cornice there is an attic with open balusters .
