The facade of this building is decorated with imposant middle
resaults, that are accentuated on both sides with a double
pilar. The triangular fronton that
crowns the middle resault, is supported by two pairs of
caryatids. The vertical charachter of this construction is
broken with pronounced horizontal mouldings between the first and the
second floor and above the third floor. The corniche carries an
open worked breastwork.
It is a pity of the modern publicity that diminishes the impressive
fronton .
The Hotel Continental was located here at the origin, there was then a more or less
piramidal roof that was crowned with a statue. In 1901 the building burnt down and the
roof was rebuilt without a top-point (with our thanks to Yannick Du Bois).
