This monumental art-deco basilica is on the outside made of strict vertical lines, broken by roundings and green colored cupolles and round roof obtuses. Large parts of the brick facades are finished with nature stone. Also the drum of the high main dome (1967-1970) was built in this stone and placed on triangular pendentifs (1962-1966). Everywhere, you find allegoric sculptures decorating the building.

The frequent use of glazed terra cotta creates a special athmosphere. In certain cases the architect (Albert Van huffel, 1877-1935) used this terra cotta also as lost formwork for the construction in reinfored concrete.

This is gives a very special impression at the monumental stairhall and the choir.
