Means to attach different parts of a building (mostly walls to beams) to one another to avoid bulging. Such an anchor normally exists out of 2 parts:
1. A straight bar (spring or strap) that goes through the wall perpendicularly. Towards the beam, the bar broadens where it is attached to the beam (by means of screws or nails)pijkers). At the other side (exterior) it ends in a loop.
2. The shooter or bolt is a straight bar that is placed perpendicularly in the loop of the strap, parallel tot the wall. These shooters are often nicely decorated, sometimes in the form af a character (to make initials) or a number (year of construction).
Not all anchors are visible: they can be hidden in the masonry. In that case they are called unmarked anchors. These unmarked anchors don't always have a shooter, sometimes the strap is curved and runs parallel to the wall in the masonry. |
